Tingira Heights Fire Station
This is a new permanently manned Fire Station which was constructed to serve the developing Tingira Heights area on the Northern shores of Lake Macquarie.
It incorporates the latest New South Wales Fire Brigades requirements, including a two appliance Engine Bay, Administration, training and Amenities block, Gymnasium and six individual sleeping/study rooms. The accommodation is contained within a single storey brick and CFC structure roofed with Colourbond Steel. The overall design is domestic in scale to compliment the locality and with colours harmonising with adjacent bushland.
Close surrounding bushland required precautions to minimise bushfire impact. This included using fire resistant materials, steel mesh window screens, steel site fencing and underground stormwater storage tank for fire fighting.
